Guide: Unlimited/Infinite score in any run

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 10:04 PM PDT

I recently discovered an exploit on accident that allows you to repeatedly destroy rebel fleet ships effortlessly, earning 20/25/30 points every time depending on your difficulty. This results in easy massive accumulation of points.

    Steps to replicate:

    1. Prepare your ship. This exploit still requires a few fair fights against the rebel fleet so it will be no walk in the park. High level engines and strong pre-ignited weapons are heavily recommended. Boarding strategies will not work with this.

    2. Locate, and reach, where you will be farming. Any spot on the map in any sector aside from Last Stand will work, but I recommend somewhere that has access to the exit beacon so you can leave once you get bored. You will not be gaining any resources from this due to the rebel fleet only providing 1 fuel per battle with no other resources. This is not a way to get ahead in any way but points.

    3. Allow the rebel fleet to catch up to you. This should be easy.

    4. Engage in your first fight with a rebel ship. While straightforward, this is not easy for obvious reasons. Advanced ships in the rebel fleet are heavily overstatted for the area in a deliberate attempt to keep the player moving. Additionally, there are now ASBs or Ion Storms universally present in rebel fleet beacons that will be a severe hindrance to your staying power. Win as quickly as possible, but pause the game before finishing the fight. This leads to the next step.

    5. Activate your FTL drive and jump away while the enemy rebel ship is breaking apart, before you receive the dialogue confirmation. It is recommended that you jump to the exit beacon unless you're already located on top of it, for reasons specified earlier in step 2.

    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 on your current beacon. Jump to the beacon you were at previously, upon finishing.

    7. As you arrive, the rebel ship will be breaking apart, as you left it. You will receive your belated reward of 1 fuel. Your FTL drive will still need to recharge due to the hazard present, but because there is no more enemy ship, the process will be accelerated significantly. You should be able to escape before an enemy ASB locks on even if you only have level 1 engines for some reason.

    8. Repeat, and jump back to your previous beacon where you will find the rebel ship already breaking apart.

    9. Repeat once again, this time you will witness a rebel ship breaking apart for the second time, despite having already seen the exact same scene play out at the same beacon. You will additionally be given the fuel reward again. This adds another ship defeat to your score and as a result is an extremely safe and sustainable way to amass huge amounts of points.

    10. Continue the process until you are bored.

    A different kind of overkill

WOW! Never seen this event before. Killing the crew was dependant on destroying the Medbay with flak and then teleporting in. As you can see, their Medbay outlived the ship.

Funny strategy with the Lanius ship

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 06:18 PM PDT

When the ion stun hits the enemy shields, it stuns everyone in the room for a few seconds. Rush a crew teleporter and send your 2 Lanius crew members into the enemy shield rooms. They will quickly drain all the oxygen. When enemy units come to defend the shield room, they will be stunned along with your boarders every time the ion hits. During the duration of the stun the health of the enemies will drain due to the lack of oxygen. This messes with the enemy AI, as they attempt to retreat to the medbay when their health gets critically low. This allows your boarders to win any fight (except theoretically against 2 or more enemy Lanius). The Lanius A only requires the crew teleporter (and preferably a couple extra crew members to man the ship systems) so it can be rushed in sector 1 or 2.

Now That's an Offer I would Consider

I recently started a new profile and have been slowly grinding ships. Recently learned that the Rock C exploit for the Crystal Cruiser was patched. Here's a close call with the Rock B while unlocking the Rock C. Stasis Pod and the Zoltan Event in sector 3, but no homeworld. Then this happens...

Going for the flagship, rate my setup

    Finally unlocked crystal A

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 08:28 AM PDT

So, last night, using rock b, the stars finally aligned. Got the stasis pod and the zoltan research facility in the same engi sector even. Things got even better, with a visit to the rock homeworlds. A tasty preignitor, a flak two, a hull smasher laser mk 2, and a swarm missle launcher ended up being my flagship killer, with hacking, mind control, and cloak. Along with a backup battery to throw some extra power towards shields when I thought it nesscarry. Feeling amazing, do crystal A. First sector, get an enemy drone event that has something take my shields down one level, so I have no shields. Lost both my crystal crewmen, and ended the fight on one health after they took out my weapons in my opening volley, but hey, at least I now have the crystal vengeance achievement!

To love and hate Rock A

Rock A is a disgrace to the concept of balancing a ship but you gotta love the way it makes you spin last second saves and unpredicted strategies, turning whatever you can find into a weapon.

So I'm on sector 3 of a Rock A run. I've played most 2 first sectors with the starting missiles. Never looted anything else than mantis crewmates.I found a first store, and didn't buy the charge laser III wich was the only damage dealer offered. (yeah that was stupid but come on, it's a dull expensive weapon I though I'd get better soon after).

I came to my last 2 missiles, and found in extremis a second store... with no weapons. Not one. So I bought a TP and started killing crews, it being my only working weapon. When life gives you mantis, right ?

Finally in sector 3 I found a Flak I an a Fire Beam so I started... well killing more crew in more adamant ways. Even found more mantis like... ok game, got it, you want it to be a boarding run, I copy, stop throwing mantis at me I bought the damn TP already, gosh.

And finaly I just looted a second Flak I so I'll keep it up like this until I find better I guess ?

I feel like I'm in those suspens TV shows were you run from close calls to new dangers, adapting imperfectly just to survive.

    Damn this ship though.
