    Holoshideim's FTL Guides

    Posted: 21 Sep 2020 02:02 AM PDT

Hello, I'm an experienced FTL no-pause player and I recently made multiple guides to help both new and veteran players.

I learned a lot by watching and reading about other people's strategies, so I wanted to share my own.

If you are interested, you can find everything in the spreadsheet below, together with the stats of my streamed games.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I1N_5I3dKc_R7OALG4dU4Rib4MeuEIa3Bsm1w_f2ncg/edit#gid=0

    The spreadsheet contains the following:

    - My stats

    - The history of my runs

    - My weapons Tier List

    - Beginner tips

    - Three general guides for the main archetypes that you can play in FTL (together with the Flagship fight)

    - Gunships: the most common type of ship that plays with lasers, beams, or a combination of both.

    - Boarding ships: essentially any ship that starts with a Teleporter - The guide is focused on the boarding aspect, mostly assuming that you have no additional weapons, even if you can transition to a standard gunship setup later on.

    - Ions and drones ships: this setup is quite rare and situational, but still a viable option - Technically you are still a gunship, but the gameplay is quite different, so it requires a separate guide.

    - A short guide for every single ship - These guides are focused on the early game

I plan to update and improve every single guide, so feel free to leave some feedback or ask questions if something isn't clear.

It took me a long time but I finally beat the flagship!

Probably the most dream run I've ever had. Managed to get scrap recovery arm un sector 1, and Zoltan Shield un sector 3. Also got the Advanced Mastery achievement.

    Crystal B Awesome Hard Run

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 04:50 AM PDT

    Imgur Screenshots

Just finished winning with all A and B ships on Hard. Boarding is not exactly my thing, but the Crystal guys make it a breeze.

It was a very lucky run all throughout - never bought crew or a single weapon. Got a well-trained pilot, two Zoltan to man engines and weapons, a combat trained mantis, a vulcan which appeared out of nowhere, same for the halberd beam and heavy laser.

My boarding party would obliterate everyone else - send them into weapons, lock it down 3 times in a row - once this is done the slaughter begins. An enemy managed to get in? - mind control them to beat aimlessly at the crystal walls. By the time their crew is running in crazy circles trying to fight my guys, the vulcan was all warmed up wreaking havoc.

Early on got a Clone Bay and the DNA backup bank, so never feared losing any crew. Auto scouts? Psssttt - my guys will die as much as needed and beat your ship to death - a truly unstoppable force.

Off to new runs with the C ships - FTL is the coolest game ever.

    Stealth B, first jump ...

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:29 AM PDT

... rebel ship with a beam drone and a small beam weapon.

I guess it's time to restart.

Is there any way for Stealth B in the early game for dealing with ships with beam weapons, beam drones and to a lesser extent combat drones other than either suck up enormous amounts of damage or fleeing (provided that the first hits you invariable take don't disable drives, piloting or weapons)?
