Help with the MEVR-478 Engineer ship (Multiverse Mod)? Posted: 12 Jun 2021 05:41 PM PDT I just really can't get a good run going with this ship. I keep getting fires started in one of the many vacant rooms, always seem to get my O2 hit, etc. Overall, just not having a good time. Any advice or help? [link] [comments]

What are those New Features in the Multiverse mod? (a guide) Posted: 11 Jun 2021 07:49 PM PDT Congratulations! You have finally installed the Multiverse mod that everyone's been raving about. You successfully installed hyperspace and opened up Multiverse for the very first time. After fixing a few installation errors along the way, you've reached the hangar and saw this beautiful ship, the Multiverse Kestrel cruiser. Filled with excitement, you reach out with your little mouse pointer to click on the Start button, and from then on, you begin your first journey. Of course, entering into the Multiverse universe can be a little intimidating. After all, it is one of the biggest mods for FTL. And with new overhaul comes new way of playing, and… oh boy, there are a lot of things to learn – not just new races and augments, but also new features such as internal upgrade, crew lab, and notoriety system. Wait, what? What on earth are those things? Well, that's what this guide is all about: learning the new features in Multiverse. Some of the features are pretty unique to this mod, so it's understandable if it seems confusing to you at first. And of course, since this mod is still under development (as of June 2021), this guide will be outdated eventually. But hopefully, if you've just started out playing Multiverse, you'll have a better grasp on what these features are. Enough talk, here are some features you may have stumbled on: In the hangar, what do those icons represent on the ship portraits? Each player ship has different starting crew members, systems, augments, and other attributes, so the icons represent what they are. The ones on the top left corner of the portrait represent the starting crewmates, systems, and augments that the ship possess (and are worth mentioning). The bottom left represent max HP and crew limit (if it's not the default 30 HP or 8 crew limit). And the bottom right represent if it's an elite/challenge ship. What is… Storage Check? Simply put, it's an option of performing additional tasks such as running salvage missions, repairing hulls, talking to crewmates, installing internal upgrades, etc. If you're familiar with another mod called Captain's Edition (CE), it's something you would regularly encounter at empty beacons. Usually you would have an option to perform storage checks when you enter an empty beacon, defeating sector guard, skipping certain events, etc. Would talking to my crew have a chance of triggering some kind of event? No, talking to your crew would only give out lore-related information (unlike CE). You can talk to your crew as many times as you want, and it will not end the storage check. Aside from talking to crew and scanning their biometrics (to view their stats), certain crew do give you blue options! For example, if you happen to have Suzerain Mantis, they can help you upgrade your teleporter system at a small discount. These blue options can be easy to overlook, so if you have an elite/unique crew, be sure to check them out if they have these blue options. What is… Internal Upgrade? This is one of the main features in storage check which allows you to install certain augments into your ship without taking up any augment slots. Many of the minor augments that you find in vanilla stores (such as Hacking Stun, Med-bot Dispersal, Fire Suppression, etc.) are no longer sold in stores but instead appear as internal upgrades. The great thing is you can apply as many upgrades as you like, provided you have resources for them. And they will always be available to you in every run at any sector, as long as you can do a storage check. What is… Crew Lab? Crew Lab is another feature in storage check that lets you upgrade your crewmates, e.g. deal more combat damage, increase max health, provide asphyxiation immunity, etc. Each upgrade can apply to only one race, and each race has a choice of 1 of 3 primary upgrades. Some races have an option for secondary upgrade which applies to a subtype (e.g. Separatist Engi, Suzerain Mantis, etc.). If your ship has a Medbay, simply upgrade it to level 2 to allow primary upgrades to appear. To allow secondary upgrades to appear, simply upgrade your Medbay to level 3. If you don't have any Medbay, simply pay scrap and other resources to install the Crew Lab. What is… that magnifying glass button at the bottom-right corner of the screen? This is a new feature in the latest hyperspace. If you click that button to toggle on, it lets you view extra info regarding crew and weapons. For example, hovering your crew would now display their stats and abilities. Also, your weapons can now display their cooldown timer in numerical value, in case you prefer that over the cooldown bar. To turn toggle it back off, simply click the magnifying glass button again. What is… Notoriety Level? If you pick a certain option in an event that would anger a race, your notoriety level toward that race may increase. Unlike CE, the effect does not cause your crew members to leave the ship. Instead, there will be a different kind of effect with long-term consequences, if the notoriety level is high enough. As of right now, the notoriety system is still incomplete. There is currently no effect for betraying the Federation or committing any other crime. Obviously, this will be fixed in the future update. Why is my crew drone not moving? That's because your crew drones (maintenance, anti-personnel, etc.) don't automatically move to another room; you can manually control them! Just move them the same way you would move your normal crew, provided they are powered up. Is there a way to unlock all the ships at once? Yes! If you want to unlock everything without having to complete their quests, you can do that by using the console (a.k.a. cheat code). Here's how you do it:
Note that there's no way of undoing this action. If you feel you might end up wanting to undo it, make sure to save your Multiverse save files and then store them elsewhere before doing these steps. Are there other things you can do with console? Yes, there are other "cheat codes" you can do. For example, you can give yourself extra scrap, unlock a specific ship (instead of all the ships), gain a certain weapon, visit a certain sector, trigger a certain event, etc. The most useful one that isn't really "cheating" (in my opinion) is the speed command. Ever got tired of waiting for enemy crew to die off from asphyxiation? If so, you can do this:
Hopefully you'll find something useful in this guide! [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:21 PM PDT I'm new to this game and currently at a shop in Sector 8 on easy with Kestrel A. I want to know if I should swap out any of my weapons for the flagship. I currently have: Burst Laser II Artemis Ion Blast Hull Beam My shop options are Burst Laser I Heavy Laser I Hull Missle The only thing I've struggled with so far are defense drones coupled with high shields. I currently have enough power to support all weapons simultaneously. I have 20 missles, a defense drone system, and maxed cloak + hacking and stealth augment. I can afford engine 5 and shields 3. I don't understand weapon synergies in this game yet. I noticed I want to save my hull beam until there are no shields and then hit as many rooms as possible. [link] [comments] |
