An interesting run, karma, and an OP ship (Multiverse spoilers) (long) Posted: 03 Jul 2021 10:13 PM PDT Pressed random ship, got the Stealth (Nessasio or however you spell it, not the MV Stealth) ship thinking "yay another sector 1 death before I get shields." I almost rerolled, but thank goodness I didn't! The early game was rough but eventually I bought shields and 2 shield bars. However I had a very tough time getting through shields as I had mini beam, burst 1, and a particle beam, meaning both laser shots had to hit if I wanted to get through both shields. I was also chronically short on power. At one point I bought hacking to help with the shield problem as 3 shield ships started springing up (lovely alliteration there) but it would soon become largely irrelevant. You see, I found Earth. And if you didn't know, Earth has a quest where you can find 3 pieces to the Gatling gun, basically a Vulcan but way better. 30 seconds of nothing, but then 2 shots every second. Piece 1 was a memory problem (which I'll admit I looked up but the one I thought it was ended up being the right one), Piece 2 was just buying it (ez, I was saving to buy a weapon to fix the shield problem so I had a ton extra) an Piece 3 was a ship you had to crew kill. This would have been a huge problem, but earlier in the game a ship dropped me a particle beam, a beam that destroys systems and starts fires but does no hull damage. After that was over, I created the weapon, which I named "Spinny Stick." I proceeded to plow through most of the ships I found. I upgraded the cloaking to level 4, giving me 20 second cloak, and upgraded my weapon cooldown, so it only took 20 seconds to charge towards the end. I'd wait for the first volley, cloak, and then destroy them around the time the cloak wore off. Somewhere in there I got the ghostbuster quest where I had to destroy the ghost flagship, and I did with ease, unlocking the ghostbusting ship which I haven't looked at yet. The next interesting part begins in the Hektar store sector (Sector 6). Real multiverse spoilers start here. I went to all 5 stores and got 5 UWU points, and was then granted access to the Hektar HQ sector, where it is revealed that Hektar has enslaved a race. Also, anyone who came here with UWU points faces a huge debt, so I flew around blowing up Hektar stores and saving people, and I came across a Tree Lizard Thing who joined my crew. After a long time of searching I finally found the Hektar HQ and found the CEO himself. I planned to kill him, but I kept the dialogue going to see if there were any other options. Eventually a high tech mercenary ship showed up for the CEO. I decided to keep him safe at the moment for the dialogue, so I fought the ship, unlocked the ship, and gained the CEO as a crew member. He had max skills. I so badly wanted to vent him into space but it was good to have another fighter on board... I kept him for the time being, deciding that if I made it to phase 3 I'd space him. I had a while before the rebels caught me, so I jumped around the sector some more and found the planet of the tree lizard things, which were rebelling against Hektar and the TLT who sold out his species. I fought Hektar (oddly with the CEO helping) and ended up gaining the guy who betrayed his species as a crew member. However we were over capacity. I could think of no more fitting end than to dismiss the Hektar CEO into the hands of the very people he had enslaved. Tensions would still be high between the two TLT's on board, but less than they were with the CEO. There was a slight hiccup when I remembered that I would need his blessing to leave the sector without a fight, but the other TLT's blessing would serve just as well... Although fighting my way out would have been trivial. Another hiccup upon entering sector 8... All three repair beacons were right at the start, which was annoying as they would be out of reach during the fighting. The next issue was that I was running very low on fuel because I installed a bunch of upgrades without looking at the fuel gauge. The only issue in phase 1 was the boarders, just the sheer number of them, however most of them went to medbay, and they only got a few more over before the Spinny Stick destroyed them. No damage taken. Phase 2, drones/hacking. Medbay was hacked. Good thing I didn't have anyone in there. However that meant I had to deal with the 2 boarding drones without healing. They had gone into oxygen (important) and hacking (not necessary) so I put a Free mantis and a TLT on the oxygen drone and left the hacking drone to its business. Destroyed the ship before the first power surge was over! I did take one damage due to the beam sneaking through my shield layers because I popped the cloak late. Phase 3. At the beginning I waited for the first volley to cloak. However a missile managed to get through my 95% dodge chance (didn't have engines powered up all the way) and started a fire in oxygen, which was quickly extinguished. I remained cloaked through the first power surge, but right as Spinny Stick fired for the first time, they cloaked, meaning I would have to withstand a power surge uncloaked. With my shields and dodge chances where they were, a few shots would probably get through, but I had a 2 bar barrier on weapons (which I used for the particle beam) so I wasn't too worried. As long as Spinny Stick kept on spinning I would keep on winning. That volley plus the superweapon took me down to 21 hull somehow, hitting cloaking, engines, doors, and piloting for one damage each, but every system was redundant so nothing majorly bad happened. They got off another volley, just barely not killing my engi, but before the volley hit they were dead already! Thus left me with my first ever stealth cruiser win in either vanilla or multiverse, and my third multiverse win overall (although one was with Tuco's OP cruiser so that shouldn't count IMO). I also unlocked five ships in one run (Stealth B, Stealth C, Ghostbuster, that Merc ship, and the Hektar ship). More importantly, it left me with the sense that I had done some good in the world. Saving a universe, liberating an enslaved race, delivering karma to an abusive CEO, and far, far more. It will certainly be a long time before I put together a ship more OP than that. Granted Multiverse probably has some surprises, but surely it must be very difficult to get any better than 20sec/0.5sec gatling and 25sec cloak. Three cheers for Multiverse! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jul 2021 04:14 AM PDT I just re-installed the game after a while and my game has no sound. I've looked around the usual places online for some fixes and the ones that I have found do nothing (integrity, sound board, etc). Any tips? [link] [comments]

My swarm missiles keep missing? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 01:04 PM PDT I started a run with the Tektite and it comes equipped with Swarm Missiles. I've noticed at least three times now where one or more missiles will miss even when the enemy ship has zero evasion. Is this normal? I'm trying to use my Heavy Crystal to knock out engines or cockpit to make sure all the missiles hit, but they very rarely do. [link] [comments]

Mod/Feature Idea: Crew Health Increase Posted: 03 Jul 2021 11:59 AM PDT This is a simple (I think) thing that would incentivize getting crew cross-trained or going after lucrative crew members like Kazaaakplethkilik. If a crew member has a level in a skill it gains an extra 5 hp and for each additional level in each skill another 5 hp is added to the max for a grand total of 60 additional hp if you can get your guys fully trained (probably only 40 or 50 extra though). This would make the crew tankier and make for better boarding. Though enemy crew should have a 15% chance for each skill to have a level and an additional 5% for level 2 ones. This would balance out the buff. The flagship crew would all have one level for each skill on normal, all maxed on hard, and no training on easy. This would make for a more dangerous game and (in my opinion) would make it more fun to play! Sincerely, [link] [comments]
