I was going to say "I DID IT!!!" after 6 hours, but apparently it's still going. Oh well.
I'd like to join in, my first victory on normal after ~30 hours! Federation Cruiser B, found Vulcan floating in space.. Any advice for future runs?
No Linux support anymore?

CONSERVE YOUR MISSILES. if you are playing as the Kestrel, only use missiles in dire situations or against 2 shield layers. The Burst Laser mark 2 is one of the three best weapons in the game: Burst laser 2, Halberd Beam, and Flak gun mark 1. It has 3 shots, so can take out 2 bars off a system against 1 shield.

PRORITY order is also important, and generally here are the systems that you want to take down in order: Major offense (Weapons, Hacking), Major defense (Shields, Cloak), Minor defence (Engines, Piloting, Drones), Minor offence (drones, teleporter), and Other (the rest). However, it depends on the scenario. If the enemy has high evasion or are fleeing, go for Piloting. If the enemy has dangerous/higly defensive drones, go for Drones. So on and so forth. You will get the hang of more specific priorities as you play.

DOORS/OXYGEN. Doors are good. Get level 2 doors around sector 3. You can open the airlocks and remove oxygen from rooms to put out fire and kill enemy crew. It is also perfectly fine to let oxygen drop to temporarily power up other systems when you need them, like the Medbay. (Also, take power out of the Medbay at the start to not have to upgrade Reactor by 1, and power it up only when you need it.)

VOLLEYS. Try to fire all your weapons at the same time, even if it means waiting 10 seconds more. Some weapons (Beams) can deal a lot of damage, but will not deal any if they have even 1 point of shield. In a volley (a burst of all your weapons at once), you want to fire in this order, with a slight delay in between: Missiles & Bombs (to weaken defensive systems) Flak & Ion (to get through shield), Lasers (to get the rest of shields and do precice damage) and finally Beams (to shred the ship). But still, if you do not have to use missiles and Boms, do not use them, as they cost Explosives to do so, which get pretty expensive.

ENGINES, ENGINES, ENGINES! There is entire meme sub about it. (r/UPGRADEYOURFTLENGINES) Try to get your engines to at least level 5, around sector 3-4, but they heavily decrease heavily in value after level 5, so upgrade post level 5 engines at the end, if you have nothing else useful to upgrade.

SCOUR THE SECTOR. Milk every last drop from the sector, without letting the rebels catch you, and pick the HOSTILE (red) sectors, as they give better rewards. Kite around stores before going to get the most out of them when you jump to them. DO NOT RUSH THROUGH. More time spent = more loot = greater chance at victory.

Finally, HEALTH. In FTL, HP is a resource. it does not matter too much if you have 5 or 30 HP (with the exception of sector 8) and don't be afraid to lose some if you have spare to get more loot.
