    The worst Start ever:

Decided to play FTL again for the first time in like 3 years.

No unlocks, fresh install. Normal run with Kestrel.

First jump has solar flares. We miss every damn shot. The enemy AI pops my engine, 02 and doors. Flare comes. We're burning. Med bay goes now. Send the crew to restore 02 and Doors since I can vent the fire. Get lucky, pop the enemy ship with 3 salvos that all connect. Crew barely alive. Send them to the engine and the medbay, venting the few burning areas.. And... More fire... On my 02 and medbay. Crew dies fighting the fires.

Literally about 5 minutes into my first run and I die on the first jump.

    10/10

How I learned to never Pick people who are stuck on planets up

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:23 PM PST

This happened at sector 2 right after I bought an ace gunner I went to a distress signal so I choose to Pick the guy up when it showed that one of my crewman is gone and it turns out it was the freshly bought gunner who got snatched So what I learned today was to never trust lonely people

I just no-hit the flagship with this absolute monster of a build

Why doesn't Subset Games make toy figurines of the ships and crew? They'd make a second killing in earnings!

Heck, I'm even thinking of an 8-hour-long-campaign, dice-based, cooperative FTL: The Board Game now...

Going into the final battle with this loadout, feeling good

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:39 PM PST

Spoiler. First time against final boss the first part was actually going somewhat good. Then then drones came in and said fuck you and annihalated me.

    Second victory

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:37 PM PST

I got this recently, after watching the "Let's drown out" episode featuring it.

After the first couple of days of playing I was planning on writing "FTL" on a dice and just rolling that whenever I considered playing.

But I kept coming back, as you do, and beat it for the first time last night, in the Kestrel, then I beat it again tonight, in the Torus.

I got a bit lucky tonight: I had to leave augmentations behind a few times because I got so many, but to even it out I had to buy all of my extra crew.

I got the 'broken flagship' event (initially scary, but nice that I'd seen it mentioned on this subreddit already), with the associated paused rebel fleet, and also won the scrap recovery arm early, so I had all the upgrades bought before I met the (real) flagship.

I ended up winning in a very similar way though. Two lasers and the halberd, with a missile defence drone (first time I reached the flagship I had no missile defence; although I reached the third stage I got blown up there). This time I got lucky with the "weapons ready after jump" augmentation which was nice, but I think I had a slightly better laser first time around.

"Two lasers to get through the shield, a beam for post-laser damage, and missile defence" seems like "the way" to do it, so I can see myself subconsciously working towards that each time. What should I do differently next time around? There's no real alternative to a missile defence drone is there? A build based on drones or missiles just seems like something else to run out of all the time. I haven't tried boarding yet, so I should hope to get lucky with Mantis one run and get a teleporter.

I'm not playing advanced edition, so no hacking for me.

What’s it gonna take to get some more content in this beautiful, brutal masterpiece of a game?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:28 AM PST

I've been playing this game... well... since it came out, and i think I've killed the rebel flagship ONCE.

But i love it, and i keep coming back. I mostly play on portable devices, ( My iPad ), but the game is still exactly the same as it was 3 - 4 years ago.

I don't know if the developer went bust or something, but we need some more first party content to be added to all systems. I REALLY want some new races, or new ships, weapons, encounters etc.

Please subset games, I BEG you, PLEASE give this masterpiece some resurgence.
