Posted: 21 Feb 2020 10:19 PM PST I just got back into the game recently after a huge hiatus and have been steadily working up the difficulty to take on Hard. Something I've noticed on Easy and Medium though is that missiles are kind of already suboptimal. Compared to the alternatives of lasers, beams, and Mantis'ing- sorry, boarding enemies, they just come off as remarkably insubstantial, and I was just curious what others think of them. Lasers and beams and boarding feel like actual weapons systems to me considering it's possible to build an entire strategy around them to win, whereas missiles kind of feel more like a system like hacking or drones because of their finite nature and their ability to be completely roadblocked by defense drones, existing to damage shields or the medbay so the other guys can clean house. FTL Veterans - I'd like to ask you about your advanced mission protocols! (Kestrel A / Engi A) Posted: 21 Feb 2020 08:56 AM PST I've been out of FTL for about 6 years now. Reinstalled the game last night. After a Kestrel A (easy) victory, I thought that this would be a good time to ask - you, the veterans - about all the questions I asked myself. I believe that if I will ever have a Hard victory, I need to start practicing the right strategies early on. Perfect practice makes perfect. Just a reminder, I'd like to keep this post about the Kestrel A and Engi A. As I progress through the game, you can expect additional posts for the other ship variants. I understand that all strategies are fluid and evolve with the various encounters in a run, but I'd love to hear about what worked for you on any of your Hard victory/promising runs. Side note, I have read the guides recommended by this community home page and I am looking for a little more ship-specific information that is backed by your victories over the Rebel fleet. Thank you all in advance! Any and all input is greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------ Ship: Kestrel A (Engi A)

Everything magically unlocked? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 12:28 PM PST I just got back on the game for the first time in a few years and the game gave me every achievement and all the ships out of nowhere. Why did this happen? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:16 AM PST I'm trying to decide what to get in early S3 store for Rock A I already got a BLI, and small bomb from earlier (sold Rock Plating and Hull Missile to get BLI) I can get TP, Hax, or Flak. TP is probably most fun, leads to higher rewards through crew kills, and I already have a small bomb. I want to get this. Hax is the best for down the road, especially for dealing with late game 4 bubble shields. I don't have a ton of drones, so it won't do much now/I would have to use sparingly. Flak I think is the best for right now, with weapon upgrade I can have 5 projectiles every 11s. What should I do/what would you do? [link] [comments]
Making the Crystal Cruiser quest less frustrating Posted: 21 Feb 2020 05:52 AM PST I'm currently 150-ish hours into FTL and never got to the Crystal sector so far. I've gotten the stasis pod countless times, but only found the Zoltan research station 4-5 times, and even then I never got to a Rock Homeworlds sector to complete the quest chain. This gave me an idea; would it be possible to mod the the game to give you a quest marker for the Zoltan research station after finding the stasis pod (similar to the quest marker for the wormhole to the Crystal sector)? The quest would still be incredibly difficult to complete, but it would at the very least remove the frustration of finding the pod in sector 3, dragging it all the way to the end, turning down several augmentations on the way to keep it just to discover the quest can't be completed and selling it in sector 7. Do you have favourite sectors and how do you decide which path you take? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:57 AM PST I personally always go for as many nebulas as possible and try to not go into green sectors. Because in nebulas you can make more jumps then elsewere. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2020 05:03 PM PST For whatever reason I'm having a hell of a time trying to complete the Rock ship achievements. Finding a teleporter and fire weapons and getting everything to come together is frustrating, finding an enemy that has a defense drone and isn't too dangerous while I have enough missiles is frustrating, and obviously the crystal quest is rare and difficult. I'm not a fan of this ship and I'm not a fan of grinding for the achievements, but I would love to unlock Rock B (and get closer to unlocking the crystal ship) as soon as I can. What is your advice?
