Following Procedure: A Lore Lover's Mod Posted: 07 Mar 2021 02:26 AM PST Hey guys, I'm considering learning to make my own text event mod for FTL which, in spirit, will enrich the game with a quality that makes Sunless Sea such a rich text based adventure. So here it is: a mod that introduces a sort of customs station that is based on the sector you're entering. I always thought it was a bit of a waste for the entry beacon to just be empty and this would be a good space to make your sector choices more interesting. Here's an example: the civilian sector is theoretically neutral, maybe lenient towards the Federation. If you choose to check in at customs, the clerk will be of random race and you will have to navigate the process through one or two choices with lots of blue event choices that could be very helpful or maybe even a blunder. If you choose not to go through customs, it will either be normal (and in the spirit of a ship with a covert operation, though rogueish) or you will be potentially hailed by a customs police ship which will then be it's own thing. Going through customs will be sector dependent and can help you or hinder you if you're overconfident in your lore knowledge or just plain unlucky. Benefits could be delayed rebel fleet pursuit / sector scans if you're processed by a sympathiser, penalties could be a rebel fleet jump, a police ship attacking you with ASB support, crew being imprisoned, etc. if you're processed by an antagonist or an irate bureaucrat. My goal with this is for it to be in the spirit of FTL events so that there will always be an RNG factor but knowing the lore should clue you in on the probability of things working in your favour or not. It should flesh out your crew members when you choose them to accompany you as an officer and affect your choices of navigating the universe on the way to the Federation base e.g. uncharted nebulas are a little more attractive because a remote customs point will rarely be a challenge, homeworlds will be rigourously checked but maybe the Mantis on duty is impressed by your boarding cruiser and requests leave at the customs post to join the fight. Or maybe he just mocks the mantis crew for fighting alongside human morsels. Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this and I would also appreciate any advice you might have on making a text event mod as I will be doing this from scratch! [link] [comments] | ||

Can I transfer an iPad game save to the PC version or the other way around? Posted: 07 Mar 2021 10:08 AM PST I bought this game on iPad about a year ago and am now looking at buying the steam version for my laptop. Would it be possible to somehow transfer my progress from my iPad? I googled this and only found a few forum posts from 2014, so I have no idea if this would be possible to do today.
