How Flak Artillery Targets Posted: 23 May 2021 12:25 AM PDT | Having recorded and imaged 10 salvoes of Federation C's Flak Artillery, I'm pretty sure I know how it targets. It's not just a huge circle, like normal flak, nor even an oval - it hits far too often, and its spread-misses are far too close. In fact, every spread-miss I recorded, 10 out of 70 projectiles, was right next to a 1x2 room. My hypothesis is that each projectile targets a random room, and then spreads much like a Flak I (seems to be slightly less, but I could've easily just not recorded a bigger miss). In practice, my data shows an overall spread-miss chance of 1-in-7, a bit higher against ships with lots of 1x2 rooms, and a bit lower otherwise. ...Also, bringing that ship into a Zoltan sector was a big mistake, lol... https://preview.redd.it/bp82qw7ont071.png?width=1275&format=png&auto=webp&s=e630584230cb2ae28d479a2fc4127ae52e444175 submitted by /u/Dranamic [link] [comments] | |

Concept ideas for more "x bays!" Posted: 22 May 2021 06:03 PM PDT NOTE: I'm aware that FTL is a finished game, but that won't stop people like me from thinking up ideas, cuz they're cool. If there's one thing I wish FTL had more of, it's different bay systems. Currently we only have Med Bay and Clone Bay. Why not more? Clone Bay (VANILLA) - Renamed to Revitalizer Bay, or Vita-Bay for short.
- Reason: IMO The current function of the clone bay doesn't entirely match it's name. Nothing wrong with that, but I have a different idea for the Clone Bay in mind, which brings me to...
- Retains the advantage in various events.
Clone Bay (NEW) - Select a crew on your ship to produce a copy of the target crew, until crew capacity is full or target crew is dead.
- Cloned crew has 30% less base HP than their original crew (effect does not stack.)
- E.g. Targeting a human with 70 HP will produce another human with 70 HP, not 40 or 49 HP.
- Absolutely no form of healing (at least vanilla Clone Bay/Vita Bay heals crew every FTL jump.)
- Upgrades improve clone production rate, and reduces HP penalty.
- Does NOT retain the advantage in various events like the old Clone Bay.
Guardian Bay - Crew gains 25% more HP in the form of Shields. SP (Shield Points) regenerates 1.6 SP/s (per second) on its own, but quadruples while in Guardian Bay room. SP stops regenerating once depleted, but it resumes when crew doesn't take damage for 5 seconds.
- Heals crew HP in the room at 6.4 HP/s while idle (does not heal if crew is stunned, repairing breaches, or fighting.)
- Upgrades grant more SP, and improves SP healing while in room (same way Med-Bay works.)
- Also improves HP healing, but at 50% of what Med Bay does.
Camouflage Bay - Renders your crew un-targetable by granting them stealth (invisibility). Stealth is granted to crew out of combat or damage for at least 5 seconds.
- Ran out of creative juice here, but the barebones concept is present. If anyone wants to add to this idea, do be my guest. To start off there obviously needs to be some way for enemy crew to target the stealth crew, make it temporary? Etc.
