    Basic guide to install Multiverse

    Since Multiverse is starting to get more popular around here, I thought about making a simple guide to get Multiverse working, as it can be pretty hard for some people to do it.
     

    You will need:

    Slipstream Mod Manager

    The latest Hyperspace version  

    The latest Multiverse version
       

    How to install Hyperspace and Multiverse:

    First, you'll need to install Hyperspace. Download the Hyperspace zip and open it, you'll find 2 files there, one Hyperspace.ftl and another one called "Extract these files into where FTLGame.exe is".
    You can safely ignore Hyperspace.ftl, as Multiverse already includes it, and do what the other file says, extract its content into your FTL root directory.
    Next, run downgrade.bat. Once it's finished, you'll see 2 executables: FTLGame.exe and FTLGame_orig.exe. The first one is the downgraded executable, and the one you'l be using from now on.

    To install Multiverse, you will use Slipstream. Simply extract Slipstream anywhere you'd like and drag Multiverse inside the mods folder.
    Open Slipstream, and then press File, Preferences and tick allow_zip. Close Slipstream and open it again, now you'l see Multiverse. Patch it and nothing else.

    Now, just open FTL, and if you reach the menu and can see the hangar without any errors, you did it!  
     
    Note: If for some reason your game crashes upon reaching the last E of the loading screen, create a shortcut of the newly made FTLGame.exe, open its properties and in target after the file adress write -opengl. If you get no errors, it should be fine. Save, and open ftl from that shortcut.
    Note 2: Join the Multiverse discord server, they are cool sometimes

    I've been playing multiverse fairly heavily recently, and I've managed to unlock most of the ships, but I can't figure out how to unlock any of the engi cruisers. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Engines over shields in late sectors

    I'm experimenting with engine targeting first over shields in late sectors where you face 3+ shield layers. In the past shields felt like a slow grind to get through: Volley 1 takes them down to 2 bubbles, volley 2 misses or an engi fast repairs them back to 3 etc. Engines seem to more dependably setup volley 2 to take shields down consistently. What do you guys think?

    What is the best system to hack?

    I have played this game many time and beat it on Hard mode once with the Kestral with no extra subsystems (not on advance addition)

    When I do play advance addition I almost always hack pilot and never engines. There are times I hack drones if they have annoying attack drones/ boarding drone/ anti personal drones (if I have a boarding party).

    There are also times when I hack medbay if they are low health because of my weapons and I can get a easy crew kill with reverse healing.

    Hacking weapons is good because with cloak it can mean you take 0 damage in certain fights.

    Oxygen is good If you have level 3 hacking and want to suffocate them. (Or if you have lanius crew).

    Even hacking the enemy hacking if they hit a vital system.

    I've been looking at this sub reddit and it seems people hack shields most of the time especially level 4 shields like the flagship.

    I get that it is good cause with level 3 hacking you can reduce shields to 0. But evade is a big problem. Unless you have a beam weapon you give yourself a chance to miss everything. And my biggest issue is it uses 3 power instead of 1. Where that 2 extra power could go into your own engines giving you 10 + evade.

    They are times where hacking shields is really good. Example 2 glave beams with pre igniters. To 1 shot the flagship.

    But hacking pilot (to me) seems like the best as you effectively remove a major amount of RNG from the fight. So you can fire your volley. Wait a bit until the projects reach the shield then active hacking and land every shot.

    What do you guys think?
