After a grueling 60 hours in this game, I have finally beaten it on Easy Mode!

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:22 AM PDT

I haven't even left sector one in the Vortex, and I'm already fully loaded up

Multiverse Flagship with only 2 damage from missiles

Ion bomb is an excellent weapon

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 03:04 AM PDT

    1. Costs one reactor. This is what sets it apart from other mid+ strength missle weapons IMO. It can be tacked onto a middling loadout for a long time or even face the flagship. A 2 reactor missle weapon though, is either costing a lot in weapons slot scrap, or consuming valuable laser space.
    2. It knocks out 2 shields for I think 20 seconds. So with a moderate amount of shots you can take 2-4 shield down to 0-2 and then slip in extra hits on a second volley.

I recently won on Normal with a 5 shot Fed B (Dual lasers, BL1, Heavy laser 1) plus ion. The lack of 3 system upgrade slots forced me to forgo teleport to get hacking and cloak. It worked out marvelously on a ship that starts with some missiles but few or no drones. I imagine one could even hack and ion bomb simultaneously although I never needed to do that on my run.

in other news, i finally crossed off hard mode with The Vortex

Is bad luck really bad luck

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 08:26 AM PDT

Buy flak > immediately start facing ships with skinny rooms

Buy Pre-ignitor > immediately start facing ships with cloaking

Get a decent boarding setup > encounter 6 auto scouts in a row

Out of fuel, distress beacon attracts a ship > it immediately tries to run

Buy hacking > immediately face 3 Zoltan ships in a row

Are the devs just spiteful bastards who built malicious algorithms into the game's enemy ship generator? Commiserate with your "well that's just lovely" moments, because after last night's session I'm feeling decidedly picked on.

[RU Arsenal+] Sectors list is so green

Finally beat it after 85 hours, and the last few runs just ruined the game for me

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 03:34 PM PDT

It didn't even feel that good to finally beat it, because of the stupid amount of rng shitting on me for hours on end.

I played for about 30 hours before learning the easy mode is actually the way to start.

Some hours later I'm consistently getting to the flagship, but can't beat it, so I start reading more guides and learn about the best ships to beat the flagship as a beginner and such. I unlock some, and decide to try beating the game with the Mantis B because boarding is really efficient and I like it.

Every run before I started trying the Mantis B, I ended up with 6+ crew easily by sector 5. I pick the 'OP boarder' ship, and had 10+ runs where I had 1~3 crew by sector 7.

Then there were several where one of the very first encounters is an airless ship next to a sun, or a pulsar that keeps my shields down and ignores their weapons, 8/10 fires start in the door/oxygen room to completely fuck everything up, and then I finally got one run where I got a decent boarding team and steamrolled the rest of the game because the ship is indeed OP when the stars align.

It gave me some hope, so I gave it a few more runs to learn the ropes a bit better, and again rng fucks me dead before sector 3 every single time. I follow all the guides, pause nonstop, time everything as good as I can, and still 85 hours of experience mean nothing when the game just goes "lol, no". I don't mind dying a lot, if there is some meaning to it, a proper lesson besides "should've taken another path".

So I just uninstalled. I -really- loved the game, but it managed to completely suck the fun out of me in those last few hours.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

When should I start playing on Hard?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:10 AM PDT

Hey, I've been playing this game for a few weeks now and I feel like I'm getting the hang of it. It took me 18 runs to get my first win and since then I've nabbed 7 wins in 19 runs. I'm still in the process of unlocking the ships and their layouts but I'm confident with at least a basic understanding of the game.

I'm keen to start playing on Hard but I know that jumping in too early can be detrimental because, without a good understanding of the fundamentals, you can easily mis-identify mistakes in runs that lose.

With this being said, when is a good idea to start playing on Hard? Should I start once I've recorded wins on each ship layout? Earlier? Later? When my win% is a certain amount?

    Thanks in advance!

    FTL Multiverse Ship unlocking

I get that 40% of the ships are RIDICULOUSLY hard to get but I was wondering how to put in prompts after pressing "L"?

Is there a way of removing Asteroid levels from the game.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:13 AM PDT

I have a MacBook Pro and I go down to 8 frames a second on those levels but otherwise the game runs smoothly. I bought the game on the epic games store but have since refunded it as the asteroid levels are unbearable. Any way of fixing it? Thanks

Stealth Cruiser Type C is the worst ship in the game. Tell me why I’m right or wrong

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:01 PM PDT

No shields, no stealth, no sensors (slug almost makes up for that), and drones don't make up for those weaknesses imo. The weapons are also meager (not total crap, but not great). I just think the ship has no redeeming qualities whatsoever

I've seen that people apparently don't like stealth type B, slug b, or Federation C.

Personally I think the stealth B is the most fun ship in the game. It's also the king of speedruns and has redeeming qualities in lvl 2 cloak, lvl 4 weapons + one of the best weapons in the game

I think fed C is certainly bad, but not as bad as stealth C. Has the same problems as other boarding ships, but extra rewards from killing crew is always awesome imo. It's also wholly unique and I think the artillery flak is pretty cool

Slug B I think is absolutely terrible and very close to being worst, but at least it has shields, and upgraded doors is a plus.

Engie B is also on my radar, and I think many of these are worse than Zoltan C

Let me know what you think about the stealth C and what ship you think is the actual worst

    When do you disable hacking?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 03:07 AM PDT

I read this is a good tactic to allow guys into a room. Flagship med bay seems like a good candidate. Are there other common situations to let them in?
