"I should probably go back and win with the Kestrel", or my most ridiculously blessed run yet Posted: 07 Jul 2021 05:45 AM PDT I've been playing a lot of other ships and still hadn't actually got a Kestrel victory so I went back and gave it a shot again. As it turns out the game decided to be incredibly kind to me. I bought a grand total of two weapons from shops throughout the whole run: a Flak 1 and a Hull Beam. The game, however, decided that it would give me an Ion Bomb, a Small Bomb, a Flak 2, a Chain Laser, a Burst Laser Mk 3 and a freaking Weapons Pre-Igniter for free. I didn't actually use any of the weapons because I either didn't have the power or already had weapons I liked better, but that's just ridiculous. Getting a pre-igniter for free basically let me steamroll sectors 7 and 8, though. I went to a rebel stronghold in sector 6, and happened to come across the Fed Cruiser quest. The in-construction flagship died without being able to do much of anything, which was probably a sign of things to come. It also gave me a whole load of scrap and let me mess about trying to find a shop for another 2 jumps, which was nice. By sector 7 I had full shields, near-full engines and was still rolling in scrap, so I bought a Crew Teleporter and Backup Battery just to get the 11 systems achievement. I then may or may not have immediately murdered two of my crew members by teleporting them onto a ship and then blowing it up. Guess my brain was still in gunship mode. Not having hacking for the flagship was a bit annoying but it went down with pretty much no problem at all. I could board and take out the missiles so I had cloak reserved for the power surges, and then it was just a matter of hitting enough shots from my flak and laser to start dealing damage. By the end of phase 3 all the crew members but the one in the laser room were dead, too, so they couldn't even fix anything. I guess I don't really have a point to this post, I was just constantly being astounded by how lucky I was getting and wanted to gush about it [link] [comments]
Bug with « Is it warm in here? » achievement. Posted: 07 Jul 2021 10:43 PM PDT I just managed to kill an enemy on fire in his own ship. The achievement success popped up and I even killed the RFS, but the achievement doesn't appear in the main menu? I play on IOS. Anyone else encountered this issue? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jul 2021 05:41 AM PDT So, I had bought this game like 4 years ago on my kid's iPad and played for 20 minutes then forgot about it forever. Saw it on sale on steam a few hours ago (WTF 7 hours really!!! guess the game sucks you in.) Played around and got a good run going. Got some pre-loader thing for my weapons and was off rolling. Made it to the final sector and didnt really know what to do so I just went for the rebel flagship. I TOTALLY KICKED ITS ASS GUYS!!! Oh wait, it escaped at the last second and I have to chase it down.... No biggie i just whipped its butt anyways so lets go round 2. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A POWER SURGE IS BUT IT CAN SUCK MY ASS!!!!!!!!!!!! I lost DECISIVELY. Now it's almost 9 am where I am and I didn't sleep at all and I don't know what to even do (I know what to do lol). Great game A+ would recommend getting destroyed and not sleeping. How to deal with enemy missiles in the early game? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 04:59 AM PDT Hi, so from my experience, enemy ships with Leto/Artemis/other fast-firing, shield-ignoring weapons will always get the first hit in. This seems impossible to prevent given how low your evasion starts at. It's pretty much RNG: if the missiles hit your weapon system, you'll eat a lot of damage in that fight. I'm fine with restarting my runs given that this is still the early sectors, but I assume pros have consistent strategies. Any advice? To give you insight about my skill level, I'm pretty new to FTL (<2 weeks of playtime) and I've gotten several Normal victories and many Easy ones (never tried Hard yet). [link] [comments] |
