TIL Crystal crewmembers can still use lockdown when mind controlled by the enemy

I was playing Crystal B when one of my Crystal crewmembers got mind controlled. On a whim, I decided to use lockdown on him to see if it would work and it did.

Over 600 hours on this game, and I'm still learning new things about the game.

If you ever feel bad about using the hacking depower trick, just remember that the enemy can pretty much always hack you NO MATTER WHAT

219 Hours and 0 victories. Before this 3rd stage absolutely fucked me, I had only 2 hull blips missing and 7 crewmembers. Does anybody have any tips for how to beat this godforsaken phase?

So what are your predictions for the next Subset game?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 05:45 AM PST

Still often playing both FTL and ITB, sometimes I just can't stop myself from wondering... what are the Subset guys working on right now? Is it gonna be a roguelike-like again? Will it even be from the genre of strategy? Will it be set in the same time and universe as the previous two? I often think that I would really like a Subset city/colony builder game, something more micromanagement-y than ITB but still with combat, like a mix of tycoon games and Starcraft.

But it's true that it doesn't sound very Subset-y. They don't fit into genres, they make them. This makes me so excited because I'm sure they will come up with something glorious again. Also another thing that just crossed my mind is that the first game was 2D, and the second was semi-3D (with the use of isometric geometry). Do you think there could be a possibility for a 3D Subset game? That would be real sweet.

Anyhow, I think it's almost certain that SG3 is gonna be beautiful, replayable, have an amazing soundtrack and be sick as fuck.

So what do you guys think? Do you have any predictions for the upcoming game? What are your fantasies, realistic or not?

Oh and also merry Christmas everyone!

Fully healing enemy crewmembers with Mind Control + Zoltan

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 06:28 PM PST

Today I accidentally discovered that you can fully heal an enemy crewmember with Mind Control and a Zoltan.

I was trying to clean the power out of level 3 Mind Control using my Zoltan, and couldn't get more than 1 bar. I tried again, this time with all extra reactor power in systems, but still no more than 1 bar. But in the process I noticed the almost-dead enemy crew was now at full health.

I knew that level 2 or 3 mind control gives a small health boost to any crew affected, friend or foe. Well, apparently every time you move the Zoltan in and out of upgraded Mind Control, the boost is applied again and again.

I'm guessing I will use this in future when I'm fighting the Flagship and their last crewmember is almost dead.

FTL, still giving up secrets after almost 6 years of playing...

p.s. apparently someone else found this trick a while ago: Heal crew members with upgraded Mind Control and a Zoltan
