- Two of my crew members died in fight, I feel like I'm being mocked
- The official name of the series has finally been voted!
- Advanced Edition Hard mode: I seem to be taking averaging 2 damage / event until I get second shields, and then average 1 damage after that.
- Game not launching
- Got this haul in sector 1. My kingdom for a pre-igniter.
- Not what he expected when brought aboard...
- I feel REALLY bad now, especially considering the global circumstances...
- The only ship I have yet to beat the game with. Honestly how do you build this shit?
- Most fun build I've had. Yes I'm playing on easy, but I really needed that last ship unlock. :L
- So close to death
- I guess this run with Engi B wasn’t so bad after all
- Last week I got my lowest scoring (Hard) victory. Today I got my highest.
- Oh, how the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the Old Boar suffered.

Posted: 13 Apr 2020 08:55 PM PDT I've been running Kestrel right now and most of my damage comes in on the first volley. 1 bubble shield Enemy missile does 2 damage (missile charge time is faster or equal speed to my artemis) then I disable their weapons Enemy does 2 projectiles and does 1-2 damage, then I disable their weapons 2 bubble shield (usually take 8 damage before I get there) On average I'll take amount 0.5 damage per jump in sector 1 - 2 after I get 2 bubbles. Is this just hard mode being hard, or is there something fundamental that I'm missing to prevent taking damage from the first volley? I understand that when a system is fully red I should stop attacking the weapons and wait till they repair it once and then break it again and that they will prioritize shields when repairing, but I don't have any other techniques on how to not take the first hit other than more shields or dodge or defense drone. Does anyone have any advice on how to not get to sector 2 without taking 15-20 damage? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 13 Apr 2020 05:44 AM PDT So, I have played FTL on and off since it came out 8 years ago, and I am now trying to improve on my top score (6972) I set many years ago. I don't remember exactly what my strategy was back then, except for using The Carnelian, picking up as many stars as possible in each sector, taking out the almost finished flagship (for the extra two jumps + scrap/weapon), visiting the crystal world and getting (and disposing of in S7) dual scrap recovery arms.... Anyways, I'm trying the same strategy now but I can't even get close; I don't think I have managed to get above 6500 since I took up the game again a few months ago. I've heard that destroying ships provides a higher score than taking out the crew (which is my main tactic with the Carnelian), but this will also yield less scrap which also goes towards the total score... I'm not interested in trying to up my score by jumping to and fro, killing off the pursuers as I consider it cheating as you can effectively do it as much as you want using 8 engine power and stealth. So, what am I doing wrong; and how can I push that high score above 7000? :) [link] [comments] |
