    First Riveting Play Through

    Recently I've bought FTL on PC off of Steam because I played it a few years ago on mobile, but since I had recently got a PC and loved the game when I played it before I figured I get it once again.

    Throughout my entire time playing FTL on mobile I never could manage to ever destroy the rebel flagship but I was able to acquire a few of the ships throughout my time.

    Just 15 minutes ago though I wanted to do a quick run so that I could just nab the Engi Type B ship. All I needed to do was destroy a ship with only drones and have three active drones in a battle.

    The first was easy because I found an auto scout with no shields but later around sector 3 I was able to acquire two Combat 1 drones and an Anti Ship Beam drone all while building up shields and weapons with no real intentions of making it too far because I just wanted to get the Type B real quick.

    After obtaining the Engi Type B I continued forward running into the Zoltan Homeworlds and luckily running across the Zoltan ship event and I got that ship, my next sector was the Rebel Stronghold and I searched almost the entire sector before I had one last jump to make before the fleet was on my tail and BOOM I found the rebel ship yard and destroyed the incomplete flagship.

    At this point I have for weapons; Ion Blast 2, Ion Blast 1, and a Chain Burst Laser

    For Drones I have; Two Combat 1's and a anti ship beam drone

    Augments: Zoltan Shield

    Shield Level: 3

    With all this I was FINALLY able to beat the final boss, something I couldn't do years ago and on a quick screw around play through I somehow pulled it off.

    I'm ecstatic at how many ships I was able to acquire in just three runs through the game. First run with the Kestrel I got the Engi A, second run with the Engi A I got the Slug and Stealth ships and third run again with the Engi A I got the Fed Cruiser, Zoltan Cruiser and Engi B along with the Lanius cruiser.

    First run with the Federation cruiser, first win with it ! The artillery beam was the true carry of this run.

    Idea about custom ships

    I was thinking it could be interesting (although no clue how to implement this in practice) to have the ships be customisable in-game with a system of picks similar to Master of Orion races. You get a certain amount of points you can distribute for positive things like extra systems, upgrading existing ones, better starting weapons or crew. Of course, you can also get extra points for taking weak starting systems, removing normally available systems and so on. I'm curious how many points all that stuff should be worth. Of course this is only a thought experiment, but I find it intriguing nonetheless. What do you think?

    Using the Cerenkov (zoltan C)

    Should I get a scrap recovery arm or more power? It kinda sucks only having defence for 30 seconds then the battery shuts off, but scrap recovery arms are nice

    EDIT: this'll just be for future reference, went for the arm

    How can I survive power surge without cloaking?

    Was playing Federation A, up to flagship stage 2. Power surge comes and I lose 50% of my hull. I died in stage 3 because I had 1 hull left. Power surges seem much easier with cloaking, but I didn't have the opportunity to buy it. How can I deal with power surges (mainly stage 2) without it?

    Mod for the Federation B paintjob

    I like the federation B, my one complaint is its paint-job. Is there a mod out there that gives it rebel paint instead of it's zoltan looking thing?
