    Messed up and lost my boarding party on the first phase, managed to survive the second phase and got filled with hope, got absolutely destroyed on the third phase. Definitely could have done better and first time getting this far

    Well I managed to beat Phase 1 at least...

    So THIS... was what I ended up with... (see picture)

    I was mainly attempting to get some ship unlocks with this run, as I had barely missed the Mantis ship in a previous run and was getting a bit pissed at some of the RNG i was being dealt (that's also why my weapons are pretty poor, all shops had were some beams and missiles for the most part).

    The hacking on my O2 was the main thing that did me in, as eventually it just vented the entire ship, killing all but 1 of my crew. After that, I started mind controlling, then teleporting the enemy over so they could share in the lack of O2 with me. After they were all gone, I sent some fire bombs over to try and take out some of their systems. Once shields burned out, i was able to peck them with my lasers for the first phase.

    Second phase, after repairing everything, I tried to re-enact my plan. Fire bomb the missiles, fire bomb the shields, and try to survive to peck away at them. Didn't work so well that time. Too many drones.

    As I said though, this run was mainly to try to get ships unlocked, as I only had 3 (Zoltan being the first one i got), and thankfully, I manged to get the Mantis, and Slug unlocked, which also got my requirements for Lanius ship unlock, thus doubling my unlocked ships.

    Just felt like sharing this, as it was probably the most memorable run I've ever had in FTL.

    Let's talk fan theories

    With the game's rich lore I'm sure we all have made our theories. I'll start with mine:

    The Mantis say "Human" as a pejorative term to indicate any non-Mantis species. Kinda like during the Cold War in the West they sometimes refer to the Soviets as "the Russians" even though the USSR was fairly multicultural. That's why the Mantis sometimes call you Human even if you don't have Humans in the crew, and also why there are few texts in which the Mantis say "alien"

    The Rock society is similar to Early-modern Age Holy Roman Empire, with a weak centralized power and many feudal lords, which explains why so many Rockmen are dwelling in piracy, and also probably religion plays a huge role in the turmoil.

    The Lanius actually do need oxygen to survive, they just have a different metabolism: they quickly absorb all the oxygen in the environment and then store it, so they can lay dormant for possibly centuries.

    Easy way to unlock all ships on iPad?

    Used to play this game a lot way back on my iPad. Recently got a new pad, and decided to fire it up again. Is there any cheat code or something to just get all the ships? Really not looking forward to the grind.

    Defence drones on Hard

    Many wins on normal, but only just made the jump up to hard.

    I've always noticed a slight, shall we say, unfairness when it comes to Defence drones - in that, I could never slip a missile past anyone with a defence drone, but the computer does it fairly regularly. When might even consider the AI to be cheating, and I will not deny certain moments of table flippery.

    But it seems even worse on Hard difficulty. Case in point - Mantis B facing Robot ship, sector 1. Slipped 3 missiles past defence drone, one of which takes out the drone system. WTF?!?!

    Best ship for combat out of these 3?

    so i have a question about FTl, out of these 3 ships: the kestral, the zoltan ship, and the engi ship, which is the best purely from a combat perspective. trying to get good combat stuff so i can have enough power to get through the events for the federation and mantis ships.

    FTL Cheat Engine?

    I've recently acquired the PC version of FTL after playing many hours on IOS. However, I'd like to unlock the ships which I've unlocked on the IOS version, is there a cheat engine or config change that does that?

    If there isn't I'll still be glad to unlock them all again! I just *really* didn't want to have to win with Engi B again ahaha
