That still makes it theoretically possible to beat the game, since it doesn't ban hacking. I used three methods for defeating ships: Hack oxygen with hacking level 2+ and hope the enemy ship only has oxygen level 1 Hack the medbay and use mind control to damage enemy crew so they run into the medbay Mind control enemies so they damage their own ship None of these methods are completely foolproof. If you hack oxygen, you're kinda stuck if their oxygen is level 2+, unless you mind control their crew, somehow bait them into the oxygen room, and then get them to damage oxygen down to at most level 1. If you hack the medbay, you need to be careful not to get into a scenario where they have exactly one living crew with full health, or else they'll never run into the medbay again. If you plan to destroy the enemy ship, you're in for a really long fight. The flagship fights kinda stink because you have to stick with method #3, which means that you need good defensive plans. For phase 1, I hacked missiles and used cloaking to avoid all missile damage, and used mind control to damage and disable the ion weapon. For phase 2, I hacked drones and used mind control on missiles. I also got really lucky that the power surge was entirely beam drones. For phase 3, I used mind control (I purchased a Zoltan Shield Bypass earlier in the run) on missiles and cloaked the power surge. I found out today that you can get pretty good timing on the cloak if you use the end of the power surge warning buzz as an audio cue for level 1 cloaking. I also had a Zoltan Shield, which was a little helpful. I defeated 25 ships, explored 99 beacons, collected 1791 scrap, hired 7 crew, and my final score was 3281.
