Check out Space Cat Tactics on Kickstarter! It's a mix of FTL and a turn by turn RPG game. There's three days left to fund the remaining $1000!

    Tips for high score?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 11:25 AM PDT

    Hello commanders,

So I've done everything in FTL and now I want to go for the highest scores possible. My record is 7200 points, which I did not expect and was really surprised when the results came in, but generally I score 6000 and something in a good campaign (on hard).

Checking the wiki I got the rules for how the score is calculated, so what I would like to ask you is ways you found to maximize your scores. What sectors to prioritize, destroying or capturing ships, stuff to buy, etc.

In other words, what must I know if I'm going for the highest score possible?

    Never ending fight.

The enemy has a defence drone. And I have run out of missiles and only have a triple shot laser. And the enemy rigger has two shields and so when I shoot one gets destroyed by the drone and the other take away the shield but I can't attack again and the ship replenishes it's shields.

It's been going on for like 10 minuets and it was a pretty good run and I just want to know if I can do anything and how not to get stuck like this.

How to proceed with this run?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 03:28 AM PDT

I've been playing FTL on and off for a couple of weeks now, and bar a few "seriously!?" moments after jumping into a ship that was fine tuned to my 1 weakness, I've been really enjoying it.
After beating the flagship on normal without the advanced content a week or 2 ago, I've switched over to playing with all the content enabled. I've unlocked the Zoltan, Engi and Rock ship (that 1 victorious run was more lucky than I realised at the time), but am sticking to Kestral A for now. Since making the switch I've made it to the flagship once, during which I learned the valuble lesson that hacking needs to be activated, not just launched. Most of my other attempts fizzle out around sector 6-7, but I feel like my current one could be something special.

    Here's my ship

I found the Glave Beam in sector 1 or 2, was gifted the Burst Laser 1 for helping a stranded ship, picked up the Pike Beam for free somewhere early, got the sub system upgrades for like 10 scrap a piece, found 2 defence drones and just found the Fire Suppression... so, not a bad run so far haha.
I've just jumped into sector 5 (engi controlled), but was surprised that I had to run from 3 fights in the 2nd half of sector 4. I thought the combo of lasers would easily be enough to carry me until I could get the Pike Beam up, which would in turn carry me to the Glaive, but the ships had such high evasion that I couldn't get through 3 shields. Hacking the pilot is always an option but I can't rely on that for every fight.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? After reading through the big guide in the sidebar I'm starting to think the Glave won't be possible - the time is nowhere near the same as my lasers so I'm going to be stuck waiting for them all to sync up. But then again... I've never had a chance to use one and the description alone makes it sound amazing haha.
