How I F*cked up

Just got this game and i love it! First time playing mantis B and everything goed well. I had 4 mantis boarding all maxed in combat. 1 special engi called virus. 2 rocks and a slug.

Weapons where good, my drones were on point, all the systems and shields and in sector 7, most ships couldnt last 3 seconds against me before getting killed.

Then a event encounter, i get boarded by 2 engi and think, well lets finish them quickly before boarding. They stand next to my healbay so i drop my 4 OP mantis in the healbay and open the door. Enemy hacks healbay and before i can do anything i lose my 4 mantis. I ragequited, maybe i could have defeated the boss but i was pissed.

Tdlr : my healbay got hacked and i lost my 4 mantis boarding party.

Arsenal Overhaul Mod Difficulty?

Have any of you tried the Arsenal+ Overhaul Mod?

I installed it and am finding it incredibly difficult. For reference, I've been playing FTL AE and CE on Hard for many years now. I've gone through the 26 Flagships mod on Hard, which was very challenging and fun! But Arsenal seems to be on a whole other level of difficulty.

I am trying it with Ship Pack 1 on Hard, and no additional modifiers ("A-" is supposed to make it less difficult and "A+" is supposed to make it more difficult, but I am using neither to start). The ships in Ship Pack 1 are neat in how unique they are, but many are a struggle to use in early game so I have to rely a bit more on luck than typical FTL. I never seem to recover from the early game struggle and Arsenal gets especially difficult in the 6th and 7th sectors with very tough enemies.

I am just curious if I am doing something wrong and/or how difficult other FTL veterans have found it. Thoughts?
