I am about 300 games* in, I'm not a super expert, but have almost every Layout A and B of every ship, and for me, I came to the epiphany when looking at my stats that a good portion of my wins are all on boarding ships. By boarding ships, I mean like I used Kestrel A: focused on buying more utilities (Teleporter, Hacking, Mind Control, Drone, Cloak, etc.) and using bombs as supporting weapons (Heal Burst, Breach) instead of weapons, yada yada yada.....

In my opinion, I believe that boarding ships are significantly more cheaper and less- RNG dependent when it comes to winning games. My only hard victories are through the use of powerful boarding ships like Mantis B and Crystal B, and only 6 of my normal wins are through outgunning the flagship (usuallly RNG for like 2 BL and a Halberd/Glaive beam + pre-igniter). Boarding ships make the game substantially easier imo because it's easier to stumble upon what you need at shops. You hate missiles? Purchase drone control. You want to slice parts of the enemy ships? Use a hacking drone. You need more manpower? Mind Control. Instead of hoping for RNGesus to give me triple BL and just dominating flagship, I genuinely do better when given a powerful boarding crew and weapons and systems that support my boarding crew.

That's my two cents, but I'm curious what other people believe. What do you guys prefer?
