First FTL game in 2 years and won with Mantis A (Easy Mode) Posted: 26 Oct 2020 03:00 PM PDT Hi all I dont have any friends that play FTL so I was hoping to share this with you. I havent played FTL in a couple years, and have been trying to find a game to play lately, happened to click on FTL on Steam and started a Mantis A file on EZ at like 2AM. I played until Sector 4 and decided to go to bed, my build seemed ok, but I figured I wouldnt get too far so decided to play the next day. I woke up with that itch to play FTL and finish my run, and I had a critical moment where I could buy a Glaive Beam for my ship, but I would have to sell my current lazer. I sold and got the Glaive beam, and all of a sudden I was ripping through ships. I got to the final zone and was sweating like crazy, I've probably only beaten the game like 3-4 times in my life and this was just a random run. The night before while going to bed I watched a streamer play and realized I would need to try and kill the crew of the final boss ship to secure the win, with the Mantis this was not too difficult, as I also had a teleporter and mind control. I made it to the third stage of the fight and started sending my guys over, suddenly my cloning bay went down and I didnt realize and all my guys started perma-dying. I had maybe three crew left and maybe 4-5 hull and decided to go for broke and just teleported everyone but the pilot and threw everything I had at the boss, the Glaive tore through with their shields down and I got the W with I believe 1 crew remaining. TLDR: Beat the game after 2 years on Easy with Mantis A, am noob so I think Glaive Beam is OP and best weapon in game, FTL is still the absolute best! [link] [comments]

FTL PVP Loadouts (Inspired from Darkest Dungeon Butcher's Circus DLC). Posted: 26 Oct 2020 10:32 PM PDT So for Halloween been doing a lot of Darkest Dungeons and the most recent expansion brought in a PvP area that hasn't been done before. The nice thing about their PVP is it just preloads all the characters all at max level. There are some trinkets and stuff but that gave me an idea. For PvP FTL instead of having everyone start from the basic loadout, why not just have an already upgraded loadout with what should be expected for approaching the last stand. Sort of an Arena Beacon. Example: Kestrel A
There you go a little bit of everything. Weapon Selection, Drone Weapons, Even a Boarding Party. The ideal jack of all master of none. The biggest challenge is to design ships that don't lose the moment weapons are taken offline. For the Federation Cruisers with their Artillery weapons that is easy as that is 2 system rooms that need to be disabled giving you time to repair one for the other. For this example Drone Control is set up as a secondary weapon system. Weapon loadout is also fairly versatile, laser, missile, beam, bomb. Here is an example for Mantis style ship Mantis B
Okay here is a boarding ship, lighter on the weapons and upgrades, but a vicious crew and a boarding drone in case the teleporter gets knocked out. A Clone Bay has replaced the medbay to make boarding the primary weapon system. So you can suicide your boarding party and they will lose quite a bit of skill each time. But they have plenty of fight skill to be that sacrificial. and everyone's favorite ships Enge B how will I set it up while keeping theme? Engie B
Might as well call this the VIRUS cruiser. 4 Engie with ALL SKILLS GOLD. Still not much on boarding or counter boarding but AP drone will help out. More of a control build with Ion Weapons and Hacking. The Beam Drone and the Heavy Laser are going to be the big damage dealers so it is light on weapons. Well those are some of my concepts. What would your PvP Loadouts be? Keep in mind we want some ballance here so having all upgraded systems and reactor will need a drawback (so less crew). Also each ship needs to have 2 separate strategies for victory so a lucky 1st missile strike won't determine the winner at the start of the match. Federation Cruisers should be very easy as they already have 2 offensive system rooms. Put your ideas for PvP Cruisers below. [link] [comments]
[MOD] Player autoship crew drones bugged? Posted: 26 Oct 2020 11:22 AM PDT So I downloaded some engi b rebalance mod, along with some mod that makes the engi b an autoship. However, crew drones (the anti-personell and sys repair) don't go back to the drone bay after use. They will only go to the drone bay if a system catches fire or something, otherwise they will just stand in whatever room they're in and take up one space. Note, I do play with multiverse, but I have tested another ship with a system repair drone, and then it works as usual, but when i try to use the engi b autoship, it doesn't work. [link] [comments] |
