    Tips for a newer player?

    Hi guys! I bought the game about 1 month ago but didn't really have a lot of time to play. So far I got 20ish hours of playtime, and now I started trying to unlock all the ships in the game. Note that I've been playing only on easy so far, and prob will stay there for a while until I get a better hold of what is actually happening.

    So here is what I learned so far: be able to know enemy weapons, so I know if I am going to take damage, how systems like drones, hacking, mind control etc work, and maybe a little bit of how to beat the flagship. So far I managed to beat the flagship with Kestrel A, Engi A, Zoltan A, and now really I am stuck with Mantis A. I either lose my crew early on, or take too much damage straight from the first encounter. Any tips for this?

    What's more, is there anything you would advise on weapon combinations? For example when is an Ion Weapon worth buying, or when to buy a Beam over Laser, I don't know really if there's even something like this. Any information is welcome!

    Slug C

    For context I've got about 150 hours in this game.

    Just unlocked slug C and it's the first ship that made me say "holy shit" when I saw what it comes with. Picked up a flak 1 and flak 2 along with pre igniter, fully upgraded hacking and shields, then beat the flagship on my first run with this ship while a tad drunk. 10/10 ship.

    Just tank up and wait beam go brrrrrr. Then upgrade it so brrr repeat faster.

    I've been playing for years with dozens and dozens of victories under my belt, but Vanilla/AE and just lost some of it's luster, so last night, I did some research and made a change:

    I downloaded Slipstream and successfully installed a couple of mods, and now I'm MOD CRAZY!

    What should I know about Modding FTL, and what specific Mods should I track down and patch in?

    Yes, it's slow and clunky, but u found a way to play modded FTL remotely, and it feels great
