    I mean, I'm not usually not inclined to be harsh towards games that took inspiration from others but, having just played the demo for this thing (well, the demos tutorial), it really seems that this thing has just slapped a 3D artstyle over FTL. The basic mechanics are almost entirely identical (Reactor management, room damage, ability to crew systems, all the same systems and subsystems, the map is a series of points you can jump to, dialog options with a blue option that is always positive, the ability to fight fires by decompressing the room (which also turns red to indicate a lack of oxygen), etc) and what differences there are don't make it better (You have to spend supplies for each crewmember as well as fuel to jump, which punishes you for having a large crew, and one of your starting crew is the captain, who isn't really that special in terms of capacity but will end your run if they die. Fun).

    Honestly, I might have been able to look past all of these similarities and actually played an actual proper run on the demo...If I hadn't noticed that the starting human ship was a blatant copy of the Kestrel.

    Same starting crew (3 humans), Same starting weapons (a 3 burst laser that takes 2 reactor power and a missile launcher that takes 1, with the former even having Mark II as part of its name), Extremely similar ship layout (a 2x1 room has been added and some other rooms have shifted position slightly, but it still looks extremely similar) and the same ship backstory (Older ships that have been brought up to spec for the mission).

    The second I saw that, I closed the demo and uninstalled without playing any more. Copying mechanics is one thing, because you can experiment with and refine those, but lifting actual designs from your inspiration is a contemptable display of creative laziness.

    Sorry if this came off as overly venty. I played the Demo just before writing this, and it just pissed me off too much not to scream about it a little on reddit. Thank you for letting me get this off my shoulders.

    Its a shame I already have long range scanners, otherwise that might actually be worth it. Double reward potential though...

    all I want is a sandbox mode mod , I'm not to good with the tech stuff so dumb it down for me with how to do it and i don't want to risk getting virus on my computer. is this possible ?

    FTL - Multiverse Backgrounds

    I've been playing multiverse and the backgrounds are really impressive. Does anyone know how I can get the images for background wallpaper? I've checked the game files and there are no .jpegs in there or anything that I can find

    how to download captains edition

    i'm just starting to mod ftl and want to use captains edition, i searched it page on the ftl forums and found tons of add ons, but i couldn't find a link to download the base mod. Can any link me to its dropbox or wherever else the file is stored since i am clearly partially blind
