I had Rock A as my last ship to beat the flagship with until I got the crystal cruiser, so the game gave me my easiest run ever!

So...

I used to play this game so much back in middle school on my iPad. Some of the most fun I ever had playing a mobile game. I don't really remember how much progress I made back then but I remember managing to beat the flagship with engi cruiser. The reason for this was because I could not stand the way the Kestrel played.

Fast-forward to today, I aim to try and win with every ship. While that may seem like a valiant goal and extremely difficult challenge,

I. Cannot. Win. With. The. Kestrel A

I've come to the conclusion that it is actually impossible for me to beat this game with this ship. After over 70 attempts, multiple flagship encounters, and even broken runs, the game just wants to dig me into the ground no matter what I have. All those times I've spent learning about weapon combinations, power management, what to buy at the beginning of a run, efficiency, subsystems, etc., the game just shits on me. Every. Single. Time. One way or another the game will just remind me that this is ftl. This past run I ran defense laser 1, flak 1, bl2, artemis, ion blast 1, mind control 3, with 45% dodge 4 shields, defense drone sabotage aug, rock plating, and crew was leveled well. 1st phase wasn't too bad. Managed to get through shields, destroy their missiles and hacking devices. Awesome. 2nd phase was ok, destroyed their shields again and fended off the drones.

Final Stage....

Missed every shot first volley, crew got mind controlled, and of course, super shield. I could not for everything that I live for, manage to break that shield. at. all. My luck was out, all my crew and systems were shit, and the only thing I had left was my own mind control which didn't work out since they boarded.

This game is giving me the most potent, sickening, ugly depression I have felt in no other game because of this damn ship. Controlling the anger and tears is not easy as I am sure others feel it too. After I died from this run I did not know how to feel for a couple minutes. It was the ultimate build up of something I thought would end. My eagerness to finally be rid of this ship and normal mode would finally end. I cried when surging straight through the blood of the enemies. I cried because I thought it was finally the run. But it crushed me. More than most things that have happened in my life.

Why?

Why? Why does this keep happening to me? I just want help.. This game is taking over my head.

What’s the correct Cloaking vs Flagship?

Whenever I see people beating the flagship, I like checking the other stuff besides the weapons, and I see Cloaking has mixed opinions.

Personally I use only Cloaking 1, but I buy a free power slot in case it gets hit. What's the reason for using the other ones? I thought Cloaking 1 overlaps perfectly with the missle volley, but maybe I am missing something
