    Slug B

    This ship haunts me.

    I've beaten the game on hard mode with every ship except this one. I've gotten SOO close, so many times. My 3rd highest score of all time was with this ship, yet I still fucked it up and lost.

    Anyway, here I am giving it another shot. I make it through sector 1 pretty decently. Bought level 2 shields, found a heavy laser mk2, and bought a medbay. Just about as good a start as you can get in the Slug B. The only issue was I took a ton of damage along the way, but I even managed to get a free 15 point repair from an event!

    A few jumps into sector 2 (engi controlled), I encounter a ship with 2 mantis, 1 engi, and missiles... It went about as well as you might expect. The weapon room got hit before I could send the heal bomb, and then I lost the teleporter too. Long story short, I lost my 2 boarding crew to the mantis. So it goes.

    The very next jump, with only 1 crew, there is very little hope for me. My heavy laser misses all of its shots, then it gets hit by a small bomb. Next system that gets hit is shields, so now the enemy can start hitting me with his single heavy laser + beam drone. I lose O2, piloting, and engines. My single crew manages to repair the shields, and 1 point of the weapons and engines before being forced into the medbay due to lack of oxygen.

    I can do nothing but watch as the enemy empties the rest of his bombs on me.... Somehow, miraculously, he misses all the vital systems (medbay, shields, weapons) before he runs out of bombs. Holy shit, I'm alive.

    I have 2 bombs left. I use 1 in the medbay to top off my health, and the other in O2 to get it repaired.

    I get my ship online, and vengeance is swift.

    And after all that, escaping defeat by the skin of my teeth, repairing my ship using my last 2 bombs, this is what they offer in their surrender.

    This game is amazing in how it still manages to surprise me. Wish me luck on the rest of this run, I'm going to need it.
