Defeated the Flagship for the first time today

What are some of the best tips for FTL that you think most players don’t know?
Never go to quests, kids (I had to go all the way around the inside of the rebel zone, and somehow I still made it)
After more than 100 tries I finally won with stealth B in hard mode. This run was almost easy.
Can play but cannot save.

I had FTL for years now, and since the quarantine I started playing it again.

I started a run today with Zoltan B (a ship I hate) and steamrolled the entire game with the starting pike beam, a flak II and a ion II (by sector 7 I also got a small bomb just for precaution). Also got stealth and some defensive drones installed. Not much else. I lot of dodge tho, like 51% chance.

I was so excited when I finally beat the boss that I didn´t even screencap it, so thats a bummer.

I am not too take savy just enjoy the game. I was playing it fine exiting and playing again. When suddenly I got save a game. I cant continue game otherwise it freezes the computer. Oddly I can play a new game just cant exit and continue. Any ideas what to do? Any help would be appreciated
