    Hi, I have very little knowledge of this game, I have owned it for a couple years and I am just now starting to play it more. My question is, is there a point when I should stop trying to find new crew members? Is there downsides to having a massive crew?

    That's every ship completed on normal. There are plenty that I won't ever be going back to and that definitely includes the Slug B.

    I had reconstructive teleport, so went without medbay and clonebay. Despite boarding throughout I was very short of drone parts and would have run out had I not rushed around buying them in the Last Stand.

    The Last Haven and the abysmal state of the FTL discord servers

    The problem with FTL discord servers is that they always have a weird, single issue.

    Some are inactive, others lack people, and others are just lazy.

    This week (11.-17. 5. 2020), the "official" discord server has suffered from heavy blows. The moderator team, which I will keep anonymous has decided to remove two of the most active members, for seemingly normal reasons. These reasons are fake, however, and today we will delve into the deep issues of the biggest FTL discord server.

    The main FTL discord server is an old one, with over 1000 people. It seems to be set up okay at first glance, but under is a dysfunctioning hell.

    The first issue is the activity. The server has <20 different people writing a message daily, and the voice channels remain unused. Most of the community hasn't even looked at the server since 2019, and the inactivity is starting to hit hard.

    The second issue is the moderator team. They seem to not want any change that doesn't follow their convention, and they have completely no passion or effort to boot. A request to have a simple bot was repeatedly declined, and any sort of modern innovation is beyond them, it seems. They also fail to fulfill the simplest of duties, giving out the content creator role to anyone who asks without proof, and they don't even bother to check the activity of some of these creators, who have long since abandoned FTL.

    The third issue is that it's engraved as the go-to server in the minds of people. Whenever a new server pops up, everyone says that there is a server already, and noone joins the new (and arguably better) ones.

    These issues will lead to the inevitable downfall of the server, and to a big loss for the FTL community.

    Everyone who has tried fixing gave up. The mods killed the server this week by removing the most active persons due to them wanting change, and inventing reasons like "sexism" or "harrasment" which didn't happen.

    There is hope though. A new discord server has been conceived, and here are a few features that you won't see on the "official" one:

    - a custom-written bot

    - passion, and a fair moderator team

    - modern role setup and visuals because it's 2020

    ...and much, much more!
