How the hell do Lanius heal?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 04:07 PM PDT

No seriously, how does a medbay designed for (mostly) organic beings heal an aerobic piece of sentient scrap metal? Does the Lanius just suck up medical equipment and use the metal to patch itself up or something? Does it just pretend to use medbays to heal so the Captain doesn't feel bad? Why can't I scrap a Lanius crew member without violating galactic individual rights laws? So many questions.

Won my first ever stealth run

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:54 PM PDT

And by first ever I mean I'd never played stealth before. Well, I was playing with a friend and we found a VULCAN floating in the middle of space in like, the second sector. we also got our hands on a hack and a flak, it was uh, pretty ridiculous. Dang this game is so good, well, when the RNG blessed you lol

    Really happy with Ssssslug-A

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:47 AM PDT

Today I played my first run with Slug-A. I try to play as blind as possible and Slug-A looked really strange to me with the Anti-Bio beam and dual laser and just 2 crew members.

Somehow I managed to defeat the Rebel Flagship AND unlock the Rock cruiser on my first Slug run. I'm in love with this mean death machine, it just clicked with me: you need lots of shields or evasion, some defensive drones and to take down the enemy ship shields. I was super lucky to find hacking at ector 6 and hacking stun at sector 7.

I also 'discovered' that hacking a teleporter sends the crew back to the enemy ship again... to promptly receive a volley of 2 flak guns.

And of course by posting this I've immediately jinxed it and won't be able to win anymore with it.

Discussion: Should we or should we not know the path of the Rebel Fleet?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 12:14 AM PDT

Quite a lot of mods have a feature where the path of the ever-expanding rebel fleet force was calculated for you, and you can simply see how many jumps can you do before reaching the exit. But is it a good idea?

Here is an opinion on both sides.

On one side, if we do not have it, the feeling of rage and frustration will be pretty common if you miscalculated a path and is forced to "dive", and got properly beaten by the elite. A calculating feature gives a better chance to survive and removes a "rough guess" part of the otherwise usually very strategy and calculation heavy game.

On the other hand, this also removes the thrill of praying to God for a correct guess, and also the small heart attack when the fleet is increased by one jump (although having the pre-mapped path does too, not having it is a more frantic praying and not like calculated KNOWING you will get one dive when reaching for the exit.) All in all, it gives more tension to the game.

All in all, I think having it is more calculated, and not having it adds more tension to the game.

    What is your opinion?

    Money Help

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:51 PM PDT

I've got 2 Flaks, 1 BL II, 1 ion blast, and lvl 2 hacking on zoltan C. Got to a store with a halberd beam. Do I let go of the BL II? (end of sector 6 btw)

Anyone else really hate Drone Control?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:12 AM PDT

Maybe I'm alone here, but every ship that comes with drone control is just automatically harder because of only 3 weapons and the fact that drone control isn't cloaking, MC, or Hacking. The final fight of the flagship is really quite annoying on normal (maybe I'm just bad) and I often find myself dying there because I have drones instead of mind control or a teleporter.

I've been trying to beat every ship on normal, and two runs in a row with Stealth C I've made it to the final flagship fight and I just lose because boarded and mind control cause too much chaos before I can get through the Zoltan shield and hack. Do I really have to resort to cheese and abduct their crew?

I had nothing to do and I thought: "Let's play ftl, it's fun! Yesterday I unlocked the Stealth B, I think it will be AMAZING to play it". I take everything back.

    No.

I got the first Burst laser for the shits and gigs, incase i fought a ship with a zoltan shield, to pop it and send the mantis over. But the opportunity was too great when i saw the second one.
