    Most Generally powerful ship?

    I've played FTL for about 4 years and have well over 1000 hours on it, I've unlocked every ship and defeated the Flag ship on hard countless times. The question I keep coming back to is: "what is the best ship?"

    I want to preface by saying that I'm taking about general power, not just starting weapons/rooms/augments/etc. For the sake of discussion, power is defined as anything giving you the best chances of wining.

    Personally, the most powerful ships in my opinion are the Kestral A, Mantis B, Rock B and Engi C.

    The Kestral A arguably doesn't need any weapon upgrades and thus can spend a lot of early scrap on shields and engines. Mantis B has a 4 man teleport and frankly, that's all it needs. Rock B doesn't have the missile reliance that rock A has wile keeping the great augment in Rock plating and Engi C is a fantastic drone ship so long as you can get past the need for drone parts.

    That's just my two cents, what are your thoughts?

    Is the rebel stronghold at the final sector?

    I want a new ship, so federation cruiser, but there is no way I am beating the flagship, I finally managed to get a strategy to kill it, I get so happy that I did, but then I realize it has 2 MORE PHASES. So I'll need to find the stronghold. The wiki is useless, all it says is it will be like a normal beacon. But in which sector?

    How do you feel about mind control?

    I'm busy with mantis C run on hard. I have drone control (defense and combat mk I) and teleporting as my systems. I can buy hacking or mind control now, but I feel like like hacking would burn my drone parts pretty quickly. How viable is it to kill everyone on the flagship with four mantis + level 3 mind control?

    Hated the Rock Cruiser for a few games but it ended up being my best against the capital ship.

    I bought FTL pretty early on and played it a good bit (never beat it though) and then stopped. I found this subreddit and wow! I had no idea this game was this popular! Now I'm looking to try it again and just downloaded it again, any tips? Also should I try my hand at the advanced/expanded mode?
