Should I turn on Advanced Edition content as a new player?

Picked up FTL Advanced Edition a while back with a Humble Bundle. I've played ten hours, getting my ass kicked by normal before realizing that the devs idea of normal is unorthodox at best. I finally gave up and switched to Easy and cruised through the game before promptly being annihilated by the flagship. The Advanced Edition toggle claims to be for experienced players-- should I try turning it on or wait until I get a little more experience? I only ask this because most of the advice I see on the subreddit seems to geared towards the game with Advanced Edition on, which makes me want to turn it on, but for what I hope are understandable reasons I am a bit intimidated by this game now.

Took me 100 hours, most difficult challenge I ever had in a video game.

weapon: 2 x flack 1 + halberd beam

aug: pre-igniter, scrap arm, long-range scanners

systems: hacking, mind control, teleport

I finally managed to get to the Engi homeworlds but I was unable to find the quest. I give up.

Does anyone have any way for me to cheat in *only* the Stealth Cruiser? All the things I've seen thus far give you every single ship, which I don't want.

Rogue-like game recommendations?

Hey all,

I've played Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Nuclear Throne, Spelunky, and Into the Breach. I have Guacamelee and Steamworld Dig in my steam library, but i've never played those because they don't seem that interesting.

Out of all of these, FTL is the game that i've enjoyed the most, and it's the game that i've put the most hours into by far. (The runner ups would be Binding of Isaac and Into the Breach.)

So i'm coming to the FTL community, do you have any rogue-like game recommendations, or other games that you guys would recommend?

I cannot open the game!

i need help, the game crashed yesterday and i haven't been able to play since. ive tried adding the launch option, ive tried re-downloading the game and removing all the files over 3 times. when i try to launch it doesnt open at all, and if i verify the integrity of the files ones always missing, i fix it, try to relaunch, its missing again.
i would like help as i want to be able to play the game again.
