I can't f*cking believe this. My garbage throwaway slug B run that I used purely to unlock type C ended up as the literal number one spot on my stats page, and it's a f*cking loss because I tried to flex on the flagship. The USS Pain will mock me for the rest of my days.

I think I hate myself. GG

Need some help with Fed A.

Specifically, I'm at a level where I can pretty consistently get a run to the Flagship (provided I don't mess up routing to grab beacons), but a typical outcome for me is to get to phase two and then get the shit kicked out of me in short order. I struggle especially in the mid- to late-game with weapon and system loadouts.

Also, the beam: I like having it as an emergency tool to break stalemates, but I'm never quite sure exactly how much and when to invest in it. Should I ignore it entirely? Build more defensively and focus on surviving to get beam shots off? Or something else entirely?

    Should I cheat?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2020 06:17 AM PST

I'm in a situation where I am not sure whether or not it is moral to "cheat" the game.

I love FTL to death, and I have unlocked every ship, gained almost every achievement, and played it with countless handicaps and challenges on the mobile version. It's such a good game, and I feel like I've really climbed a hill with it.

However, I only recently decided to download FTL on my laptop, for the sole reason that I want to try mods. There are lots of different mods that I want to use to spice up the gameplay that I can't use with mobile, and I also want to try making my own custom ships with the Superluminal Editor.

However, I'm plagued with an issue; in order to get the most out of my mods, I need to unlock every ship all over again.

I'm honestly compelled to just cheat and find a completed save file in this situation, because I don't get the same satisfaction others get out of beating a game twice. I like doing something challenging once and then being done, so having to go back and do the whole game over (even though I love it) would be too much and I would probably give up before I actually finished replaying it. At the same time, it's mega taboo to cheat at this game because of how it's meant to be a game that you "dedicate" yourself to, at least from what I've seen.

So what should I do? Do I just get through the grind and unlock everything on my own again, or should I just download a completed save so I can play mods without said grind?
