Can you beat the boss with boarding tactics only?

Today I used the first mantis ship and made it to the very end. Had a good setup with 4 mantis crew that I would swap in to board, hypnosis to help them fight, and some bombs to disable systems and hurt crew.

I was in a great spot to beat the final boss... but was disappointed to see that after I killed everyone a notification popped up saying "the ship is now in autopilot mode" and it could self repair and keep the fight going. Since I only had bomb items there was no way for me to actually damage the hull (occasionally fire would do a point of damage- but I didn't even get close). It was a long stalemate but it eventually defeated me.

Is it possible to beat the ship with boarding only? I was a bit disappointed with this as you can imagine.

Crystal ship achievement

How to get achievement where you have to trap 4 enemies in same room with crystal lockdown. If i board other ship enemy only sending 2 crew to fight my boarding party even if i go into 4 space room. And if im not boarding crew just chill at their station and if o start fire/break something only 2 crew get dispatched to fix it.
